| Product Care And Advice Supatra's unique furniture is made from solid wood and occassionaly other appropriate materials, fit for purpose on selected items. Although the furniture is kiln dried and and the designs are created to allow for some wood movement, there may still be some minor maintenance required.
All solid wood furniture will expand and contract a little with temperature changes. It is a natural living product and will move until it settles in the humidity of your home.
There is no need to be alarmed as all our furniture is designed to allow for some degree of movement. You may notice that the furniture has a frame and panel contruction which allows for the panel to move in different conditions. This type of furniture contruction has been used for hundreds of years all over the world.
- Should the panel move slightly, simply stain the groove to a darker colour than the finish of the wood and use a clear varnish to finish. A good french polisher can do this for you with ease and quite quickly
- Where possible avoid placing your piece(s) too close to radiators, fireplaces or in direct sunlight. Any direct exposure to sustained heat may cause excessive
damage or cracking - Daily; simply wipe clean without the need for polish
- Periodically; every month or two polish with Fiddes Supreme Wax Polish (Jacobean or a similar dark wood colour). Be sparing and take care to fill any minor cracks or scratches
- Try and use coasters or placemats where possible, as the constant application of water will eventually result in damage to the finish
The same guidelines above apply to all our furniture. | |
