About Rosewood Furniture

Rosewood is a tropical hardwood, preferred in the making of fine furniture because of its beautiful patina and solid, dense character, excellent for making fine quality furniture, especially where intricate carving may be featured.

Our rosewood is specially kiln dried for export and made traditionally using interlocking joints and frame and panel construction. This does not require the use of screws or nails to secure the furniture together. The fine finish is obtained through staining and many many layers of the best quality lacquer polished in between coats building up a glass like finish.

With designs based on original styles from the Ming and Qing dynasties and now evolving into a myriad of more western practical designs.

Available made to order in 8 color finishes from a base of red 1-4 and brown 1-4.

Rosewood Furniture Care
After a period of time, your rosewood furniture may have shrinkage round the edges of the panels. This is perfectly normal as our rosewood furniture is made from solid wood (no veneers) and a period of adjustment is needed to settle in to you home conditions.

Please do not be alarmed as this is normal and easily remedied.

The main remaining sources of rosewood come from the Far East where the climate tends to be much more humid than the UK. Despite being kiln dried for many months there is no way to eliminate 0% movement in solid wood from the Far East.

We recommend leaving your items to settle for a few months before taking any action.

You may then either:
- bring in a good French polisher to touch up and finish the panels, or
- contact us and we will happily send you a touch up kit (please specify your rosewood      colors)

NB: The colors shown about offer only a representation, due to different screen settings and monitor manufacturer specifications. Please contact us to request a physical sample, which we will send to you free of charge.
